In August, the temperature really turns up in Miami and the waves on the beach collect waves of people. Ocean Drive is packed full of cars trying to find parking, stores selling their coldest refreshments and people finding their personal slice of beach to bury their umbrella stand or tent sticks. These challenges tend to shift our focus away from enjoying the beautiful slice we call Miami Beach. Is it worth the hassle? Is the worth the time spent? Before caving in, consider the alternative courses of action. One great idea: Canyon Ranch Hotel & Spa Miami Beach.
Once home of the legendary Carillon Hotel, the new Canyon Ranch Hotel & Spa Miami Beach(http://canyonranch.com/miamibeach) offers the amenities that made it a legendary destination in the West Coast. With an impressive 7,000 square foot wellness center, your options are many, your challenges few. We were fortunate to visit with Daniella Gallego, the Marketing & Communications Manager for the resort and discussed Canyon Ranch in depth:
Q. “With social media becoming more prevelent in our everyday lives, how much emphasis does Canyon Ranch put into marketing this segment?”
A, “We are currently using Twitter and Facebook as tools to build and engage our communities, including health, spa, fitness, and travel. We use social media to give a taste of the Health & Wellness knowledge offered to guests during their stays. On Twitter, we have aimed to establish Canyon Ranch as an expert in each of those categories by following trends and using hashtags to streamline the information we deliver. In addition, we have encouraged key staff members like our Executive Chef, Managing Director, or Medical Director, to name a few, to become active on Twitter to give a voice to the brand and branch out into other categories.
Q. “Your fact sheet screams of an impressive Wedding destination. Is this an area of focus for your resort and, if so, how much?”
A. “Canyon Ranch undoubtedly has some of the best views in South Florida. We have scenic outdoor areas with ocean views and limited indoor space, ideal for intimate weddings. Bridal and bachelorette spa getaways, however, are increasingly driving more business to our hotel and has quickly become a market that we are actively penetrating through co-op opportunities with the GMCVB and bridal magazines, such as “The Knot.” We have definitely seen a growing demand from brides-to-be for healthy getaways to prepare them physically and emotionally for the big day— and what better place than Canyon Ranch… on the beach?
Q. “For the dog days of summer, do you place a prime emphasis on local business? If so, what kind of enticements do you use to reach out to our community?”
A. “During the summer we absolutely try to capitalize on our local business. We have several Florida resident offers that are reasonably priced and allow locals to have a weekend getaway in a beachfront hotel without having to jump on a plane or deal with airport drama. We also participate in local events such as Miami Spa Month. This promotion in particular is hugely successful for us because throughout the rest of the year locals who want to book a treatment at Canyon Ranch have to book a Day Spa Packages starting at $275— July and August are the only two months when locals can sample one of the best destination spas in the world for only $99. There is no better value in the marketplace.”
