Canadian figure skater, Patrick Chan, won the 2011 World Figure Skating Championships. Although Chan calls Toronto, Canada home, his family owns a second home in Colorado Springs.
“Patrick and I love Colorado Springs,” says his mother, Karen Chan.
“Here, I act as Patrick’s manager, chauffeur, cook, mother, and coordinator. It’s a full time job. We are so busy, but life in Colorado is so peaceful and relaxing. We can enjoy life, but work also towards Patrick’s goal of being the next Olympic figure skating champion.”
The training environment at the Colorado Springs World Arena Ice Hall is great. The high altitude is also a plus. I know we are from another country, but Colorado Springs does feel like home to us now.”
