Nevada Wolf Pack head men’s basketball coach David Carter has announced that Zac Claus is the newest assistant coach for the Wolf Pack.
Claus spent the last six years as the program’s Director of Basketball Operations.
“Zac has shown great dedication, a relentless work ethic and has been a valuable part of the Nevada basketball program over the past six seasons,” Carter said. “He knows our system and has experience working with our players although in a different capacity. I’m very excited to have him on the floor coaching.”
Claus came to Nevada after three seasons as an assistant coach at Sacramento State. He has had two seasons at Portland State as the team’s director of operations (2000-01) and as an assistant coach (2001-02). He was also an assistant varsity coach and head JV coach at Nebraska Wesleyan in his hometown of Lincoln, Neb., in 1998-99, and spent the 1999-2000 season as an assistant at Austin College.
Claus graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications from Eastern Washington University in 1998. He played his final two years of college basketball at Eastern Washington, where he was a team captain and two-time Big Sky Academic team selection. He started his collegiate career at Creighton University and the University of Nebraska.
“My family and I are very excited about this opportunity and grateful to Coach Carter for providing me with the chance to advance on the staff here at Nevada,” Claus said.
