Every Sunday in Sacramento is the farmers market, located on 8th and W Street under the freeway. I will be feverishly shopping there this Sunday and hope to see you there as well. Let’s support local farmers!

What about home delivery, you say? What about delivering to the office as well?
Try these local businesses out sometime..
Time to stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables for the coming week. If you are like me, I am constantly running out of produce before the end of the week and have to make that unique trip to the store getting that one lemon I need for my sauce. Planning your meals each week takes planning.. heh, heh… and who has time for that? Well… maybe it’s time we all took a few minutes to create a menu and shopping list for the week.
Never be without an ingredient. Plan ahead. The French call cooking preparedness, “Mise en Place”. It translates as “everything in place”, a proper method of setting up before preparing food.
Here are ideas that may make it easier for most of us to master “Mise en Place” with our menu and shopping lists as well as our setup prior to preparing all meals.
Make a template ( a reusable list, if you will) that looks something like this:
Dinner: Pot roast Pizza
Bean Salad Caesar Salad
Baked Potato Garlic Bread
Apple Pie Pistachio Gelato
Lemonade Sparkling Grape Juice
Lunch: Tuna Salad Ham & Cheese
Breadsticks Potato Crisps
Fruit Salad Yogurt Dip
Fig bars Cut Vegetables
Roast Deli ham
You get the picture. On the top of the list, you have the menu for each day and underneath is your shopping list for the week. Email me with any of your tips to organizing your meals! I would love to hear from you! Let’s give it a go!
Be sure to check out the “Master Chef Series” classes at Le Cordon Bleu; you may still get in to some of these classes. Open to all amateur cooks out there! Here’s the link: http://www.chefs.edu/Programs/Chefs-Series
The Learning exchange has so many different types of cooking classes as well: check them out here: http://learningexchange.com/index.cfm?method=ClassListing.ClassListingDisplay&int_category_id=1&int_sub_category_id=4
