The Durham Bulls’ longest winning streak of the season is over.
Casper Wells’ triple was the centerpiece of a four-run fifth inning for the Toledo Mud Hens, who averted a sweep of their four-game series at Durham Bulls Athletic Park with a wet 6-2 victory.
The result left the Bulls, who had the five-game winning streak snapped, with a two-game lead over the second-place Gwinnett Braves in the International League’s South Division.
Adam Wilk (5-5) was the winning pitcher while starter Brian Baker (7-7) took the loss.
Jeff Kunkel homered for the Mud Hens.
J.J. Furmaniak homered for Durham, while Brandon Guyer added an RBI double. Furmaniak finished with the homer and a single while Russ Canzler added a double and a single.
The Bulls will open a four-game series with visiting Gwinnett tonight at 7:05, with Matt Torra (0-0, 7.24) going for the Bulls against Julio Teheran (10-1, 1.68).
