It’s Wednesday, August 31st. Hordes of teenyboppers have infiltrated the city, kids are back to school, and some of you may or may not have power back yet from Irene.
Sounds like life’s giving you plenty of reasons to get out and have some fun!
Let’s start this Labor Day weekend a bit early tonight and head on over to The Comedy Studio in Harvard Square, where Worcester native Matt Aromando is proudly performing for the first time ever! Matt’s performing as part of the Fresh Faces showcase, along with Matt Bowker, Shaun Connolly, Dan Crossley, Erik Levi, Shane McHugh, Kenny Nardozza, Joe Piccirillo, Ryan Staples, Mark Stevens, and Christa Weiss. Tickets are only $8 and the show starts at 8 pm. The Comedy Studio is located at the top of the Hong Kong Restaurant in Harvard Square.
Thursday night, Mottley’s takes some of the strain off your wallet with Five Buck Yuks! What better way to let their fabulous fans know how much they’re loved than to book a great comedy show and then let them in for five bucks? Ken Reid hosts NYC’s Jessie Richardson, Jessie Baade, Matt Kona, Wes Hazard and more…and did I mention it’s only five bones? Featured comedians include Ken Reid, Wes Hazard, Jessie Baade, Matt Kona, and Jessie Richardson.
This Friday at 8pm fire up the Flux Capacitor and get to Central Square to see the triumphant return of 1.21 Jigowatts, an improvised comedy tribute to Back to the Future! Come check out our hilarious (and fantastically nerdy) cast of beloved Back to the Future characters Doc Brown, Marty McFly, Lorraine, George and of course Biff! $16, $12 students. ONLY 30 tickets left!
On Friday, Mottley’s presents Mike Dorval’s Trial of Love. Headliner Mike Dorval invites a real couple on stage, where they will present their problems and he will use his vast knowledge of romantic conflict to settle things once and for all. It’s a perfect date night (or bachelorette party), and don’t miss the lightning round at the end, where Mike will quickly solve real problems from couples in the crowd. Standups Matt Kona, Ryan Clauson, and Val Kappa open the show. Don’t miss this one!
On Friday and Saturday, Nick’s Comedy Stop is proud to present Joe Wong! Self-titled as an “all American immigrant,” Wong came a long way from a rosy-eyed new immigrant to a blossoming comedian. His jokes range from ethnic, personal, political, observational to bizarre. It’s not always easy to categorize his humor, but it is always inspired. In addition to appearing on Late Night with David Letterman and The Ellen Degeneres Show, Joe has performed standup comedy in New England, New York, Los Angeles and Beijing, China. He hosted the Asia Fest in New York in 2007, was featured in the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival in 2008, and participated in the Boston Comedy Festival competition 4 years in a row and advanced to semifinals and finals. The show starts at 8:00 pm and features Boston favorite Dan Crohn – get your tickets today!
And don’t forget, next week kicks off the 3rd Annual Boston Improv Festival! 6 Days, 3 Stages, 100 Acts. You know it, we know it: This is going to be AWESOME. Get tickets now. Special Guest Comedian Todd Barry has ONLY 27 tickets left for his shows on Tuesday September 6th. Are you planning to see SO MUCH COMEDY? You can buy show passes or individual tickets.
