In what Warren police are calling the biggest drug raid in the city’s history, 40 members of Warren’s SWAT and narcotics teams conducted simultaneous raids of four apartments in the Lund Manor Apartment complex early Friday morning, confiscating drugs and arresting six.
The historic raid followed citizen complaints about illegal activity at the apartment complex, located at Lund and 12 Mile, which resulted in a four month police invesitigation. During the last two months, the Warren police had the apartments under surveillance.
The raid itself took place Friday at 9:00 AM, when the forty officers descended on four apartments, accordng to a Warren Police Commissioner. They seized large quantities of marijuana and prescription medication. Three of the men were arrested on drug charges, the other three on open warrants.
What police found was a sophisticated drug operation marketing weed and pills to students of local high schools. At the time of the bust, the operation was expanding to include sales of heroin and cocaine.
The people arrested on drug charges will appear in court Monday for arraignment.
