Klout is a website that calculates your reach on numerous subjects. Your Klout score is based on 35 different variables and determines your influence on your followers on twitter. When you receive your Klout score it will be broken down into different sections that will serve as a tool to help find out what your followers consider important and what posts of yours influence them. The breakdown consists of the following
- True Reach– This is a number that calculates your influence over your followers, but eliminates followers that are labeled as spam or have been inactive. True reach can be determined on how interesting your content is, how far is your content being spread, if followers are adding you to lists and are those lists followed. Also, based on demand, such as how many people do you have to follow to build your list of followers and do your follows often get reciprocated?
- Amplification Probability– this is the likelihood that your content will be acted upon. This number is determined by number of rewteets and discussions started based on your posts. The subcategories are: Engagement. how diverse is the group that replies to your posts and do you initiate or participate in discussions? Velocity, how likely is it that your posts will be retweeted and are you retweeted by a wide range of followers or is it the same people retweeting your posts? The last category is Activity, do you post too little or too much to your followers? Do your tweets turn into new followers, an increase of retweets or replies?
- Network Influence– this is your influence level on your network audience. This is also determinve by numbers of retweets, replies, new follows, and lists you asre added to. It is particularly important to influence those who are also considered influencers on twitter. If those who interact with your posts are considered to be influencers as well, this can be a tremendous help to your klout score.
