It is hard to accept things when life turns sour. Sometimes we have to walk down a path for years before we can see the light.
James 1:3(KJV) Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
Times such as those makes a person recall the story about Joseph in Genesis. Even though Joseph was favored by God he still had to endure years of darkness to be able to get to the place God needed him to be.
For Joseph it started at the age of seventeen. His brothers were extremely jealous of him and Joseph being in his youth didn’t understand the bitterness. When he shared with them his dreams it outraged his brothers even more. The chapter in Genesis goes on to tell how he was thrown in a pit and sold.
Was that the end of his suffering? Joseph had yet to go through being falsely accused of trying to bring harm to his Master’s wife because of her lust. Even though God was with him he still had to suffer being thrown in prison.
Joseph spent two years locked up before he finally became the ruler that he was meant to be. It can make someone wonder how he kept his faith. In all the adversities he was plagued with he still believed that God was with him and would guide his path to freedom. What would have happened if he would have gave up during all those years of torment and turned his back on God. I know the story would have been much different and God would have found someone else to save Egypt from famine.
The hardest thing in life is to deal with situations that befall us for what ever reasons that may not seem fare. But it is especially true in that time, we need to strengthen our faith and draw closer to God.
1 Corinthians 16:13(KJV)Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
All each of us can do in life is live the best we can in what ever circumstances we find. Just like Joseph if we stand strong in our relationship with God and continue in faith without a doubt then eventually it will work out and we will find ourselves the ruler.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
