Believe it or not, we’re heading into late summer here in the Treasure Valley. Soon, kids will be back in school and leaves will be changing colors. But before we get too far ahead of ourselves, there’s still plenty of time to get out and be active. If you’ve been looking for an event to test your fitness, here’s a list for August.
August 4 Y-Not Triathlon Boise. Ever want to try a triathlon, but weren’t quite sure you could do it? The YMCA of the Treasure Valley has a great opportunity for you. The Y-Not Triathlon is geared toward beginner athletes, and features a 400 yard swim, 6 mile bike, and 2 mile run, all on a safe, supervised course full of volunteers to encourage you along the way. August 6 Kuna Days 5K Kuna. This event begins on Kuna’s Indian Creek Greenbelt and the flat course winds its way through town before concluding back on the Greenbelt. Be sure to stick around for the Kuna Days parade and other festivities. Click on this link for more information.
August 6 Run 4 Your Life Boise. This event presented by New York Life Insurance includes a 5K or 10K Greenbelt run. You can also enjoy a post-race barbecue as well as interactive booths for the whole family, prizes, and giveaways. Proceeds benefit Wednesday’s Child. Click on this link for more information.
August 13 Garden City Chamber of Commerce River Run 5K Garden City. Benefiting the Boys and Girls Club, the fun run/walk includes a 5K as well as a 1 mile course for kids. Plus there are post-race activities and a pancake breakfast for all participants. Click on this link for more information.
August 20 Warrior 5K Run Walk Meridian. This inaugural event benefits the Meridian High School cross country program. Registration fee is only $20, before August 18, and then $25 on race day. Click on this link for more information.
August 27 Jimmy Driscoll 5K Boise. Run or walk the flat 5K course at Bishop Kelly High School. Families are encouraged to participate. Click on this link for more information.
August 27 Pooch Party Stroll and Splash Nampa. Why should you have all the fun and reap all the benefits of an active lifestyle? Your four-legged friends want to get out there, too. There’s a 1-mile walk, plus a dog-only swimming event. Proceeds benefit the Nampa Dog Park. Click on this link for more information.
August 27 The Dirty Dash Bogus Basin. Like your fitness a little dirty? Don’t be ashamed. This 10K mud run is just for you. Complete with hog bales, the Slop N Slide, and secret obstacles, there will be plenty of challenges, and good, dirty fun all the way to the Filthy Finish. Click on this link for more information.
