A cold front moved across northeastern Ohio last night. This front is now located across southern Ohio. There is still plenty of moisture and instability remaining across the Akron area and showers and thunderstorms will be possible through this afternoon. While severe weather is not anticipated at this time, a few of the storms could produce torrential rains. The high temperature in Akron today will be in the low 80’s.
Tonight, the cold front over southern Ohio will become stationary. A wave of low pressure is forecast to develop along the front over the lower Ohio Valley. This low will then track eastward across southern Ohio tonight and Tuesday. Showers and a few thunderstorms are expected to become more numerous tonight as the low approaches. Low temperatures will be in the low to mid 60’s.
On Tuesday, it will be mostly cloudy with occasional showers and thunderstorms in the Akron area. Some of the storms could produce torrential rains. High temperatures on Tuesday will be around 80 degrees.
Improving conditions are expected for the middle of the week as high pressure and drier air finally take control of the weather.
