Do we believe we are blessed? Do we understand how very privileged we are? Do we truly thank God for all we have?
Amarillo farmers and ranchers may not feel very blessed when they are taking severe losses in crops and livestock.
Catholics, Christians across the nation may not feel very privileged in light of all this gloom and doom talk about the almighty dollar crumbling down on us.

Do any of us ever go a day without food? How about a week?
Do we always have cloths on our body? How about shoes for our feet and a jacket for winter?
Don’t we have the luxury to get on our computer to read these articles, shop, and play games?
How many of us get up every day, go to work without fear of being raped every time we leave our work place?

What if these droughts in some areas, excess rain in others and the debt crisis is a way for us to reach outside of ourselves?
What if it is meant to wake us up to what is going on around us?

What if it is our wake up call to pray harder?
Are we giving up, saying what has prayer done for me lately?
What if it is a call to pray harder?
What if we all started next Friday with renewed intense dedication to pray harder?
What if we pray for what the truly big “storm” that may be brewing.
What if we pray for conversions of hearts and minds about the immorality, selfishness, and irresponsibility of our nation and our world?
What if we started dedicating the first Friday of each month with prayer and fasting?
