With families suffering here in Atlanta and all across the nation due to unemployment, we see more and more large companies sending their jobs overseas where they can pay lower wages and benefits; as well as lower taxes.
This administration keeps harping on taxing billionaires and this is making them run scared. They have huge financial investments and usually a huge workforce. They can cut millions by not having to pay benefits like healthcare. Perhaps President Obama did not intend that sharing the wealth be only a local thing here in America; but perhaps global. Perhaps he wants America to share the wealth with other nations.
Yesterday, the State Department here in Georgia notified citizens that the unemployment rate for Atlanta jumped to 10.5% in June. When huge companies close their doors, lay off people, or send jobs overseas there is a trickledown effect to other companies who in turn have to lay off employees as well. http://blogs.ajc.com/business-beat/2011/07/28/metro-atlantas-jobless-rate-jumps-to-10-5-percent-in-june/
Not only does this hurt the American economy; but we in turn get products that do not have to meet the high standards in America; and then we get shoddy products. If we have such high standards in producing products, we should have just as high standards in what is allowed in this country.
We are building up the economy of other countries at the risk of our own; and in countries that does not like us very much.
Yesterday, July 29, 2011, Boston Scientific Corp announced that they will lay off 1,200 to 1,400 employees here in America over the next 2 1/2 years. They also disclosed that they were investing $150 million dollars and hiring 1,000 people in China. The fear is that they will gradually shift more jobs to foreign countries; and we will continue to get inferior products which are just as high as those made here in the US. They make medical devices used in doctor’s offices and hospitals.
Boston Scientific Corp would not say how many jobs would be lost in Massachusetts where 2,000 of its 25,000 employees are based. Their slogan is “Defining tomorrow by today!”
They have a branch office here in Atlanta with a small staff of 10 to 19 employees. It is not known if any of these employees will be affected.

Just in time for all this Obamacare to begin taking hold, we see a company jumping ship and this could be only the tip of the iceberg.
