As if The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills needed any more drama.
People magazine confirmed today that the hit Bravo reality show will add two new cast members when it returns for its second season in September. Brandi Glanville and Dana Wilkey will join returning season one cast members Taylor Armstrong, Camille Grammer, Adrienne Maloof, Kim Richards, Kyle Richards and Lisa Vanderpump, though as friends of the main characters, not full-fledged housewives.
Brandi Glanville is the ex-wife of actor Eddie Cibrian, who engaged in a very public affair with country singer LeAnn Rimes that led to the couple’s divorce. Glanville is friends with Maloof, which led to her casting.
Glanville said in an interview she thought the show’s first season was “crazy and great. You put five girls in a room together, or six girls in a room together, and there’s gonna be drama no matter what.”
Glanville hopes to bring something different to the show. “I’m just me. I’m not pretending to be someone else,” she noted. “I’m very honest, and sometimes too honest, but I’m just me, and I’m real. I didn’t come from money, but I’ve had it in my life and not had it in my life. I’ve been on both sides of the fence, so I just want [viewers] to relate to me.”
Dana Wilkey is a successful event planner in Los Angeles. She appeared briefly in season one with Taylor Armstrong, one of her closest friends. In a Bravo promotional clip she said she had watched the first season. “I didn’t think it was that crazy,” she said with a laugh. “I wasn’t really intimidated by it.
“What I’d like people to get out of me on the show is that I have really good intentions, I’m a really loving person, but at the end of the day I feel like at some point you have to call people on their bullsh*t,” she said. “And that’s who I really am.”
The upcoming season promises to be juicy as Camille Grammer remains locked in a custody battle with her ex-husband Kelsey, Taylor Armstrong is divorcing her husband Russell, and Kyle and Kim Richards are trying to repair their relationship after last year’s season-ending blowup.
Bravo has released a preview of the second season that features plenty of small dogs, big lips, rampant spending and seemingly pointless arguments, culminating with Armstrong’s signature, “Enough!”
“There’s so much drama this season, and I’m kind of in the middle of all of it,” Brandi Glanville said. “So I think it’ll be a really fun watch for the fans.”
