Christelle Bilodeau and Sarah Mourad had a lifelong dream come true during the On the Run Tour. They met Paul McCartney and got his autograph. In this two-part series, we’ll tell their stories.
Christelle Bilodeau, who’s from Quebec City, met him in Montreal. She brought a sign to the show and hoped.
At the beginning, I was interviewed and I said I wanted Paul to sign my drawing but I had no expectations.
Ok well…I brought my sign to the concert, (i’m sending you a picture)
When the show started, Paul saw it immediately and pointed at me saying ‘’Wow’’.
So I thought, he must not forget me!! I put my sign in the air at every 2 songs approximately.
At the first encore, security chose five girls to go up on stage (for autographs on their arms and back..) I was very disappointed I knew Paul had seen me…
At the second encore, Paul played Helter Skelter, right after the song I put my sign in the air…It was my last chance… Paul saw it, he remembered and pointed at me and said, ‘You. Its was like, ‘Oh you! I remember.’
Then he spoke with his guitar guy and he pointed at me again. He said something like, That girl ..’
The security brought me up on stage, Paul was at his piano, because he was about to start the last song on the evening. He said, ‘But we couldnt go home without…without signing this!’ He invited me to join him on the small stage with his piano.
He asked me if I had done the drawing. He asked me what my name is and he showed my drawing to the crowd. Everyone applauded.
He told me my drawing was very good, then he signed it. He hugged me and I told him, ‘Thank you for your music, Paul.’ He looked kind of shy or embarrassed I dont know how to describe his expression! I turn around to go down the stairs. Paul put his hand in my hair and let it slip..(i dont know how to explain it properly)..he said, ‘Christelle!’ I think it was his way to thank me for what I told him.
And again, ‘We wanna thank Christelle, but most of all, we wanna thank YOU!’
After ‘Golden Slumbers’/’Carry That Weight’/’The End’, right before Paul left the stage for good, he pointed at me again with a smile, with a look in his face…’’I hope you’re happy’’.
