The Cleveland and Northeast Ohio area is a diverse, multi-cultural region and Clevelanders have the opportunity to celebrate that diversity and travel the world without ever leaving Northeast Ohio by attending the 3rd annual Medina International Fest on Saturday, August 27 in Medina, Ohio. It is approximately a 40 minute drive from Cleveland to Medina.
Medina International Fest Taking place at the downtown Medina Public Square, the Medina International Fest will feature a wide variety of international entertainment and food celebrating many cultures of the world. There will also be a huge international bazaar with 65 vendors offering fine art, clothing, ethnic art and Fair Trade goods for sale in addition to vendors from the Medina County Farmer’s Market with lots of homegrown vegetables and fruits for purchase.
Activities include martial arts demonstrations, performances by the Sho-Jo-Ji Japanese Fan Dancers, the O’Hare School of Irish Dance, the Cassandra Belly Dancers, the Mame Dalko Drumming Ensemble and concerts by the Intransit Latin Jazz Trio, the Celtic rock group Whuppity Scoorie and polka band Joe Novak and Friends. Performances will take place on the Main Stage on Broadway St., at the Gazebo on the Square or on the lawn of the Square.
Don’t miss the Children’s International Parade of Nations at 2 p.m. Participants are encouraged to come dressed in heritage or native clothing.
Just some of the food items to be found at the International Fest include potstickers, chana massalaw/rice, eggplant lasagna, ribs, Italian sausage sandwiches, strawberry crepes, cabbage & noodles, Reuben egg rolls and Reuben sandwiches, Greek gyro, baklava, sushi, shrimp creole, jambalaya, pasta & meatballs, Jamaican fare, Indian cuisine, hummus, pierogi, cannoli and homemade ice cream.
Among the participating restaurants are Bruno’s Ristorante, Bombay Grill, Bullie’s BBQ, Miss Molly’s Tea Room, Old World Food, Crepe Lady, the Blue Heron, the Main Street Cafe, Sushin on the Roll, Sully’s Irish Pub, Zydeco Bistro and Schloneger’s Ice Cream.
