Tragic: Amber Alert toddler Madeline Samaan-Fay, father, dead in SUV (photos, video)
Sommerset, Calif.– San Francisco residents are learning in tragic top news today that Amber Alert toddler, Madeline Samaan-Fay, has been found dead with her father, Mourad “Moni” Samaan, inside his SUV. Both father and daughter were found together in a secluded area of Placerville in El Dorado County, CA, says the FBI.
Placerville is a few hours’ drive from San Francisco.
The green Toyota 4Runner belonging to Mourad “Moni” Samaan was found around 8:00 p.m. last night, close to Sommerset, where investigators are currently still working at the scene.
San Francisco resident, Bruce O’Neill, says, “This is a tragedy. It makes you wonder if the courts should give the fathers/boyfriends more rights to see the children, even under supervision. Clearly an event like termination of parental rights should offer some kind of counseling for both parents along with it.”
For San Francisco residents this has strong reminders of the case of little Juliani Cardenas who was abducted by his mother’s boyfriend. Both Juliani and the mother’s boyfriend were later found dead when the van in which they were traveling was found at the bottom of a canal. As in the Juliani Cardenas story, police had previously asked for the public’s help in the Madeline Samaan-Fay case (See that article here: Missing Amber Alert girl, Madeline Samaan-Fay, what police are asking (photos))
Mourad “Moni” Samaan kidnapped Madeline on August 7th and was believed to be headed toward the San Francisco Bay Area where he had relatives. Police had checked out family leads there, but nothing had come of it. Mourad “Moni” Samaan and his daughter Madeline were last seen alive in the Sacramento area after the father kidnapped 2-year-old Madeline. His wife had just been given sole custody of the little girl.
Police were concerned, however, when there was no sign of Mourad “Moni” Samaan having made contact with anybody or having used his credit cards or cell phone.
SFgate.com reported that, according to police sources, “The guy’s gone electronically dark. No cell phone, no banking, no e-mail, no nothing. He was formerly in contact with family members. … He has never essentially disappeared like this.”
According to CNN News, FBI have not identified the bodies and more information will be released later. The cause of death has not been mentioned. The number on the plates, does, however, match those of the missing vehicle.
This is a breaking news story.
