Grand Mesa Moose Day
Date: July 30, 2011
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Location: Grand Mesa Visitors Center 20090 Baron Lake Drive, Colorado Hwy 65 (right on top of the Grand Mesa)
In case you weren’t aware, we have moose on the Grand Mesa. In 2005 the Colorado DOW began to reintroduce the Shiras moose to their new home on the Grand Mesa. While the Shiras is the smallest of it’s sub species these creatures are still an awe inspiring sight.
This festival is brought to you by the Colorado Division of Wildlife and the US Forest Service. The event is family and kid friendly and will feature all types of moose related activities to welcome our newest residents. The day will include moose biology, tracking and history. You will even learn how they are transplanted and how to safely view moose in the wild and yes there is a correct way to do this. Kids can enjoy puppet shows and other kid friendly activities.
