Fans watched as Nate and Sophie entered into a no strings attached sexual relationship on TNT’s ‘Leverage’ (which airs Sunday nights on channel 26 in Phoenix). A relationship between these two characters is something Leverage fans have been waiting for season after season. But a no strings attached sexual relationship is probably not exactly what the doctor ordered.
It seems harmless, two consenting adults entering into a sexual no strings attached relationship, but that type of relationship doesn’t really exist. At least the ‘no strings’ part doesn’t exist. There are ALWAYS strings of some sort and these types of relationships are NEVER harmless. At least one person in this ‘so called’ relationship pays a price. If people tell you differently they are either lying to themselves or delusional.
The reason that someone pays the price is simple, sexual intimacy is personal, no matter how indifferent you try to be. In fact, people who try to detach themselves are often the ones who get the most attached. Sure the ‘novelty’ of the relationship is fascinating but ‘novelty’ ALWAYS wears off with time. Even one night stands have an impact on people (aside from the possible STDs).
If you disagree you are welcome to leave your opinion below. But ask yourself; do you really know how the other person feels? Look at a movie that recently tackled this topic lately ‘No Strings’. They both got hurt no matter how detached they tried to remain. But in that romantic comedy they found their way back to each other. In real life, the probability for that reconnection has odds stacked against it. Why? (hopefully your next question). The answer is ego. People in real life are less likely to forgive hurt, even when they don’t tell you they are hurt. Even if you don’t realize it, if it was meant to be, you would have realized it (any of this sound familiar?). This Examiner highly discourages ‘no strings’ sexually intimate relationships. Agree or disagree, we love to hear from you, feel free to leave a comment below.
As far as the rest of the episode of Leverage, the team successfully saved the day by helping a student retrieve her ‘super’ potato from the big bad corporation that was trying to re-engineer the protein packed potato so they could sell it for a profit. Some highlights were:
- Sophie knocking Hardison out cold
- Parker’s amazing cat burglar moves
- Eliot dressed in pink and playing an accountant
- Hardison and Nate taking on a tiny protégé (for the day at least) who helps the group smuggle out the potato from the locked down offices
It was an action packed episode that kept the viewers engaged the entire hour (but then Leverage has never had a problem with that aspect). As always I would love to hear your opinion, feel free to leave a comment below.
