Disney Parks Blog announced July 8 that Tinker Bell and her Disney Fairy friends will once again be available for meet-and-greet opportunities at Magic Kingdom park at Walt Disney World Resort. The characters will appear at the Adventureland Veranda beginning July 28, 2011.
Tinker Bell and her Pixie Hollow pals will continue to appear at Epcot theme park until that date. They may be seen in their temporary location near the Mouse Gear store. The Disney fairies had been temporarily relocated to Epcot after Mickey’s Toontown Fair closed at Magic Kingdom as part of the construction for the New Fantasyland expansion.
Ariel of “The Little Mermaid” currently appears at the Adventureland Veranda. There has been no official statement concerning Ariel’s appearances after the pixies return to the Magic Kingdom. One possibility, however, is that Ariel might appear with Disney’s Storybook Princesses at Town Square Theater.
Town Square Theater, located on Main Street, U.S.A., reopened in March after being re-Imagineered as a permanent home for Magician Mickey as a character meet-and-greet opportunity. Disney’s Storybook Princesses now appear here until their new Fantasyland home is ready.
Both Magician Mickey and the princesses are Disney FASTPASS opportunities.
Flynn Rider no longer part of “Tangled” Play and Greet
Character meet-and-greet opportunities regularly undergo changes at Walt Disney World. Flynn Rider, the hero of “Tangled” made his last regularly scheduled appearance at the “Tangled” Play and Greet experience in the Fairytale Garden. That opportunity, which started in October 2010, replaced the Storytime with Belle Experience.
Earlier this year, in April 2011, Angelica from “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” began appearing at Magic Kingdom. Her appearances take place near the Pirates of the Caribbean Ride and the Pirates League experience.
Recent character meet-and-greet updates at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Disney’s Hollywood Studios also saw some recent changes to its character meet-and-greet opportunities in May and June.
Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater received updates for their “Cars 2” meet-and-greet, which opened in June. Photo opportunities take place near MuppetVision 3D.
In May, Winnie the Pooh and Friends began appearing in the Magic of Disney Animation building in preparation for the upcoming “Disney’s Winnie the Pooh” feature film, to be released July 16. Their former appearances were at the Sorcerer Mickey Hat, and the change in venue displaced Lotso the Huggin’ Bear from “Toy Story 3.”
Phineas and Ferb, from the popular Disney Channel Show, also began appearing near MuppetVision 3D in May.
