What makes love true? This is the question I posed to Mr. Chad McKeehan, the Denver Store Director of Tiffany & Co. Mr. McKeehan has over a decade of experience with the iconic jeweler. My interview with him is a light-hearted and informative exchange exploring this complex question. Tiffany & Co. helps you discover the answer with its internet campaign with all of the accoutrements and advice that you would expect from a premier jeweler whose image and products are synonymous with romance.
To prepare for my interview, I reviewed the micro-site, http://www.whatmakeslovetrue.com/ created by Tiffany & Co. Splashes of Tiffany’s signature blue, images and stories of love and romance, accompanied by exclusive songs set the mood for a special visit to the site.
Special Q&A with Mr. McKeehan:
TG: What do you like about Tiffany & Co?
CM: The quality and the history is what I like most about it.
TG: What sets Tiffany & Co. apart from other jewelers?
CM: We have styles that are timeless, they’ll last forever. You can hand them down from generation to generation. We are not a fad. Our quality and our timeless beauty are what set us apart from other jewelers and our service.
TG: How are you catering to the singles group? How do you get your name out locally?
CM: We do it in a number of ways. One is being involved in our community. We try to support local charities, especially the charities that our customers ask us to support and ones that are close to the company as well.
TG: Tell me more about the site, “What Makes Love True?”
CM: It’s neat for people who are single and looking to get engaged. It’s interesting. You can select a heart and put in a spot. I think if you are single, there are a lot of places on there that would give you ideas that are very unique… With some of the songs that we have done exclusively and that we had created for us, I think it’s…romantic too. For someone who is single, married, engaged it makes people remember that there is love in the world and there is somebody out there, and it brings a smile to your face when you see the pictures and hear the music…People get engaged in the store. Literally, getting down on one knee… It’s nice that we are a part of people’s lives… It feels good.
TG: How would you like to be conveyed to singles who are moving towards commitment?
CM: I would say look at us, give us chance. People think we are out of their price range. They think we only have pieces that are $100,000 dollars and I would say come to us and compare. Look at our prices. We have something for everyone. We can educate people looking to get engaged… in terms of what we have to offer… Just explain to them quality and what to look for, so they know that they are getting a quality piece no matter where they shop.
TG: What is some dating advice that you would share?
CM: When you’re dating, just make sure it’s right for both of you. Make sure it’s somebody you truly enjoy being around…Try to be spontaneous once in awhile, create some excitement.
TG: Do you know of special places locally?
CM: A lot of people come to us with ideas in mind… We try to help guide them if they have any concerns. It’s a nerve-racking time for both people, it’s a once in a lifetime thing. <3
