Amazingly, today is the last day of July and the last leg of summer is already upon us. After Labor Day thoughts will once again turn toward snow and the upcoming 2011-2012 ski season. Until that time, August promises to bring a flurry of events and activities at Colorado’s ski resorts.
Next weekend Keystone will host the 15th Annual Bluegrass & Beer Festival. This year’s festival includes 30 microbreweries from around Colorado and live music on three stages. The festival starts on Saturday, Aug. 6, and runs through Sunday, Aug. 7.
Artists include The Farewell Drifters, Steel Pennies, the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band and more. Musical acts take the stage in Gondola Plaza, River Run, and the Quaking Aspens Amphitheatre at 12:30 p.m. The beer component begins at noon every day in the Shock Top Beer Garden, with the tastings beginning at 1 p.m.
A one-day beer glass pass, Saturday or Sunday only, is $40 and includes an official Keystone Bluegrass & Beer sampling mug and unlimited tasting from participating breweries. The weekend pass, for both Saturday and Sunday, is $75.
There’s also a lodging/beer glass combo special going on up at Keystone where you get one night of lodging and a one-day beer glass pass for $87 per person, and a two-night lodging and weekend beer glass pass for $173 per person. Go to www.keystoneresort.com or call 800-239-9291 to book one of these packages.
Breweries include, but are not limited to: AC Golden Brewing Company, Pug Ryan’s, Odell Brewing Company, Renegade Brewing Company, Oskar Blues Brewery, Palisade Brewing Company, San Luis Valley Brewing Company, Grand Teton Brewing Company, Hops Grill and Brewery, Durango Brewing Company, Left Hand Brewing Company, Del Norte Brewing Company, Twisted Pine Brewery, Crabtree Brewing Company, and Breckenridge Brewery.
There will also be instructional music seminars by Shannon Whitworth on Saturday morning from 10-11 a.m., and Peter Rowan on Sunday from 11 a.m. to noon.
FYI… Free parking will be available at the River Run parking lots located just off Gondola Road. For more information and a full schedule of events, click here.
