Northeast Ohio is one of the premier regions in the country for the growing of grapes and the making of wine. In fact, this region of Ohio has the distinction of being one of the very few areas in the United States that can produce ice wine. Clevelanders have the chance to celebrate Ohio wineries and all the quality wines that they produce at the 17th annual Vintage Ohio Wine Festival being held on Friday, August 5 and Saturday, August 6 at Lake Metroparks Farmpark in Kirtland, Ohio, located approximately 25 miles east of downtown Cleveland.
Vintage Ohio Expected to attract more than 30,000 visitors, Vintage Ohio will play host to more than 20 wineries from around Ohio who will offer more than 150 vintages for sampling and purchase by glass or by bottle.
Area wineries that will be at this year’s Vintage Ohio include Breitenbach Wine Cellars, Buccia Vineyards, Buckeye Winery, Candlelight Winery, Debonne Vineyards, Emerine Estates, Ferrante Winery, Grand River Cellars, Grape and Granary, It’s Your Winery, John Christ Winery, Klingshirn Winery, Maize Valley Winery, Marietta Wine Cellars, Mastropietro Winery, Old Firehouse Winery, Old Mill Winery, Paper Moon Vineyards, St. Joseph Vineyards, The Winery at Spring Hill, Valley Vineyards, Vermilion Valley Vineyards, Vinoklet Winery and Wyandotte Winery.
Other activities at Vintage Ohio include live musical entertainment, cooking demonstrations and children’s entertainment. Regional artisans and crafters will be there to offer items for sale and visitors will be able to purchase and sample cuisine from regional restaurants and caterers. There will also be a huge fireworks display on Friday evening.
Vintage Ohio guests will have access to all regular Farmpark activities including ice cream making, animal encounters, pony rides, border collie demonstrations, Light Horse Brigade demonstrations, a hydroponics garden tour, cheese making demonstrations and milking a cow. Lake Metroparks Farmpark will not be open to the general public during the Vintage Ohio Festival.
Hours for Vintage Ohio are 1 p.m. – 10 p.m. both Friday, August 5 and Sunday, August 6. Advance tickets may be purchased until August 4. Advance Adult Taster tickets are $25 and admission is $27 at the gate. Admission for Designated Drivers is $10. The Adult Taster admission includes a souvenir wine glass to use for all your tasting. Designated drivers receive soft drinks. Admission for visitors under the age of 18 is $3. Parking is free.
