‘The Smurfs’ movie is a must see if you have young children! Tonight we went to as a family to see it. Grandma and Papa went along for the movie as well as my husband and two children. Every single one of us loved the movie and could not stop laughing.
This movie starts out with the Smurfs living in their own little mushroom village. Gargamel, played by Hank Azaria, is trying his best to capture them just like in the television show. He had a cat that followed him around just like in the TV show and was a hilarious addition to this show. Clumsy Smurf ends up helping him find his way to their village and they have to do their best to escape.
Six of the Smurfs end up in New York City as Gargamel follows them there. They spend their time trying to find their way back home and avoid being captured by him at the same time. Lucky for them they end up at the home of a nice couple who is ready to assist them. Patrick is played by Neil Patrick Harris and his wife Grace is played by Jayma Mays.
There is one scene in the movie where Clumsy is falling in the bathroom. Both of my children were giggling uncontrollably and so was half of the theater! It was worth seeing it just for this moment alone.
The movie throws in several adult jokes that children just would not get to ensure that parents enjoy the movie as well. The Smurfs have a habit of saying everything is Smurfing or Smurfy. My daughter left the theater quoting Smurfette and saying, “You Smurfed with the wrong girl!” Watch out because you may get tired of hearing “La, La, La, La” at your house.
Personally I would suggest this movie to anyone with children looking for a film the entire family can enjoy! This movie is airing at various movie theaters around Oklahoma City and other areas in Oklahoma. It is available in 3D or 2D.
