With Mega Man Legends 3 cancelled, is Mega Man going to be put into retirement? It is one that could fuel speculation. Given that Capcom has pushed it away, it is likely to see it as such. It was supposed to be more of just ending the series and resolving everything at the very end. It wasn’t so much about the idea of making it for the sake of making it. It’s been many years since the second Legends game ending on a cliffhanger leaving the question of what happened.
It was going to originally come out for the Nintendo 3DS but that no longer is going to happen. One could almost point that some signs had to do with Keiji Infaune’s departure months back. It did leave an impact and did have a level of unknown what would happen. While Capcom will not admit to that having any merit whatsoever, it could be a telling sign of what was to come.
The example would be that the infamous Mega Man Universe. An article was written about it and was one that had something to do it, though it is really speculation. It may have been a telling sign, though it may not have had much merit at that time. Perhaps that could have been good if it had been really thought about put together rather well.
Going back to Legends 3, it was going to be one of the games coming out in the future. It was unknown as to when but the premise was that him leaving put the game in question what would happen. Adding to it could be that Capcom may have never been behind the idea. It was like they didn’t care one way or the other about it. Why go through all the hassle teasing a game that has been requested only to have it taken away?
In any event, it could be the end of the franchise so in case of such an issue, there is the possibility of doing a slight retrospective looking back into the series. If that is the case, it may not be the time to mourn it but to celebrate it.
