The Le Moyne Dolphins women’s volleyball team places 10th in the preseason polls, as announced by the Northeast-10 Conference’s 16 head coaches’ poll Friday, August 26, 2011. So what’s in store for the 2011-12 season? The Le Moyne women look to improve on their marginal season last year in which they finished 14-12 overall, 7-8 NE-10.
However, a losing conference record carrying over from last year will not discourage the team, as Le Moyne boasts five returning starters including 11 letterwinners from last year backing them up. Head coach of the Le Moyne women’s volleyball team Ken King boasts an overall record of 322-244 (.569). After opening last year losing 3-0 to Bentley, Le Moyne will work hard to keep their record above .500 this year and make waves in NE-10 Conference play. Junior middle hitter Morgan McDermott (Camillus, NY/West Genesee) of last year’s Northeast-10 Conference Third Team joins forces with Junior Allison Hebel (Greenlawn, NY/ Harborfields), who led the team last year in double-doubles with 11.). McDermott led the conference in hitting percentage in the 2010-11 season with (.380) and finished last year with 212 kills, 66 blocks.
