Max Weinberg, legendary long-time drummer for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, teams with Grammy award-winning vocalist, songwriter and Hammond B3 player extraordinaire Bill Champlin, as well as saxophone sensation Mindi Abair, to create an evening of pop, funk and rock and roll guaranteed to blow away patrons at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center on Sunday, October 9th at 7 p.m.
Champlin is best known for his 28 years as the keyboardist/vocalist/songwriting mainstay of the legendary group Chicago (“Hard Habit to Break” and “Look Away”). He was also the founder and leader of the seminal 1960’s San Francisco area“rock band with horns,” Sons of Champlin.
Saxophone star, recording artist and recent American Idol guest Abair, who has toured/recorded with the likes of Duran Duran, Keb Mo, Backstreet Boys, Josh Groban and Mandy Moore, adds her dynamic jazz-tinged “pop and rock meets soul” playing style and vocals to the musical mix.
Both Champlin and Abair will be featured during the Weinberg experience, performing select songs from their illustrious careers.
Max Weinberg explains, ”when you come see us, you’re going to get the music … behind the scenes insight … and oral history of the music, all in one slammin’evening!” In other words, prepare for the full Max Weinberg experience.
