Taylor’s Cafe is breakfast and lunch spot that’s been around since 2001 and seems to have flown under the radar, despite it’s high profile location next to AJ’s at 44th St. & Camelback. It also serves one of the more unique burgers I’ve had in a while.
With 5 burgers on the menu that are all prices at $10.95, the Hollywood Cheeseburger is topped with portobello mushrooms and brie cheese. Two tasty ingredients that you don’t often see as burger toppings. Served on a toasted sesame seed bun, it comes garnished with green leaf lettuce and 2 slices of tomato. Grilled to the proper medium rare the beef tastes good and when combined with the grilled portobello mushroom’s earthy taste and creaminess of the melted brie cheese you have flavors that make your taste buds wake up and say “Yum”. I only wish there were a bit more of the brie on top. With your choice of mixed fries, onion rings, mixed greens or a cup of soup on the side all should be good when your meal is complete. You can add sweet potato fries for $1.95. The French fries are crispy and golden in color the way fries should be and come with sides of mayo, spicy mustard and ketchup for dipping or spreading on your burger. Although you’re in Phoenix, you’ll feel as if you’re in Hollywood with this burger. Taylor’s Cafe is open 7 days a week for breakfast & lunch from 6 a.m.- 3 p.m. & is located at 5053 N. 44th St. 85018 602-954-2666 www.taylorscafe.com
