Professional conduct should be a no-brainer to paranormal investigators; however some do not see the importance of this small but imperative behavior.
Paranormal investigators have become so numerous that the lack of professional conduct and ethics in how they perform has spread like a wildfire. Sadly, those investigators who strive to remain professional, conscious of the duty they are to perform, and seek recognition from the scientific community are constantly being set back by this abhorrent behavior.
It has become more important to seek fame and their 15 minutes, that the paranormal community suffers, even more important, the clients are left feeling more vulnerable than before. Professional conduct should be on the top of every investigators list. How they conduct themselves speaks volumes for the entire community.
Paranormal Investigators must begin to realize that their client’s fears are real, whether or not any evidence is gathered. The evidence is just one part of the process, but it is not everything, at least in my opinion. Great care and concern for the client’s well being should be at the top of any paranormal investigators mind.
The professionalism of investigators goes beyond having a flashy website, matching shirts, or bumper stickers. Through word of mouth and references, you can tell a great deal on how these groups conduct themselves. Those groups who seek monetary gain and fame are not serving the client’s interests.
As a daughter of a small business owner who has successfully kept in business through the fall of the job market, a shake of the hand, word of mouth, and keeping your client’s at the top of your list can be the very reason why these groups stay afloat or fall off the radar.
The paranormal community as a whole has grown immensely and shows no signs of slowing down. With that in mind, care needs to be taken on how others perceive our work, our professionalism, and our goals. We must be mindful when we agree to investigations that the paranormal community as a whole is dependent on our group to do their best, most professional job, and provide the information needed to become a relevant industry that is dedicated to helping our clients and the research and documentation of paranormal phenomena that affects millions of people each day.
