The Capital Grille uncorks the Generous Pour Wine Event.
The Capital Grille is well-known for its exemplary cuisine, service, and wine – but this summer, it gets even better! During the Generous Pour Wine Event (through September4), you can sample nine fine wines for just $25! That’s right – Sample all 9 Wines (or multiple tastings of your favorite choice) — for just 25 bucks!
Each featured wine was specially chosen from unique vineyards around the world by The Capital Grille’s Master Sommelier, George Miliotes (one of only 173 Master Sommeliers in the world). “I believe that wine education must be experienced first-hand,” Miliotes said. “That’s why I’m thrilled to be able to provide a fun, wide-ranging wine exploration at The Capital Grille. We are especially pleased to bring our guests some of the world’s most exclusive wines this summer, for a delightful, educational taste journey.” The Generous Pour Wine Event introduces guests to some of the season’s newest wine trends, while also offering hard-to-find varietals as well as known favorites. Highlights from this summer’s chic collection of choice whites and reds include:
Tarima Hill Monastrell, 2009– Making its U.S. debut at The Capital Grille this summer, this spectacular varietal is setting a new standard for Spanish medium-bodied red wine, exhibiting notes of licorice, dark chocolate and dark violets, with a supple mouthfeel.
Chalk Hill Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, 2006– Named for the volcanic chalk under the vineyard’s hillside surface, which gives a delightfully unique quality to the wine’s flavor. This rich, dense wine exhibits great balance between fruit and structure. The wine’s multi-layered flavors represent both the sweet and the savory, dried bing cherry and dark plumb leading toward a more structured, textural finish.
Marquis de la Tour, NV– This sparkling bubbly hails from a vineyard in France’s Loire Valley, which has been producing excellence since 1885. Fine bubbles and a delicate, floral aromas, and crisp melon notes define this sparkling beauty.
Conte BrandoliniVistorta Merlot, 2006– This classic, old-world Merlot is harvested from 100-year-old vines in a small vineyard in Northeast Italy, epitomizing powerful Tuscan elegance. Vibrant ruby red color and well-structured, with intense aromas of red cherries and plums set against a backdrop of silky tannins.
La Cana Alarino, 2010– a light Spanish white with a summery, lemon nose, rich texture, and a long, refreshing finish.
Chateau St. Jean, Belle Terr Chardonay, 2008– An exceptional Chard delivering ripe pear, nectarines, and citrus on the nose, filling the mouth with flavors of pear, citrus, and peach. A perfect match with the fresh Lobster, and The Capital Grille’s signature Lobster & Crab Cakes.
Freemark Abbey, Carbernet Bosche, 2003– A supple and rich aged Cab, it’s pairs wonderfully with the dry-aged NY Strip.
Byron Pinot Noir, 2009– Smooth and sexy, showing ripe raspberry and soft tannins, and a supple finish.
FL Buller, “The Portly Gentleman” – this Australian “port” is a splendid after-dinner wine, exhibiting aromas of berry, followed by sweet cherries on the palate, and a lush finish with haunting hints of nuts and dried fruits.
During The Generous Pour event (through September 4), you can sample all nine wines — or even multiple tastings of one or more of your favorites — for just $25 per person at dinner. The knowledgeable servers are happy to guide you thro ugh the experience, suggesting pairings for each course ordered and providing each person with a summary of tasting notes. The restaurant will also prepare custom wine flights upon request, for those guests interested in comparing and contrasting The Generous Pour selections.
