And then there were two. This week, ‘Bachelorette’ Ashley made her final two choices in Savusavu, Fiji as to which men she’ll consider becoming engaged to next week on the Season Finale of ‘The Bachelorette.’ They are JP & Ben.
In a week full of surprises, Constantine eliminated himself right before his fantasy overnight suite stay. His actions were in contradiction to what we saw during the hometown date of last week. All of sudden he appeared to be a bit distant with Ashley. I sure hope he didn’t lead Ashley on just to give his restaurant Giorgio’s in Atlanta TV exposure. Though all signs would point to yes, I don’t think this is the case. Ashley admitted to fighting for Constantine. She saw the good in him & tried to make it work. She also saw that he needed a lot more time than what the show allowed before they would progress further. She equated the fact that he looked at hundreds of houses before purchasing one to how he’s acting with her. He’s just a guy that takes his time making decisions. We also learned that he’s become good friends with Ben (his twin). I kind of got the feeling that he gave up Ashley knowing that Ben felt stronger. So after spending the day together on the island Constantine excused himself right after dinner. He respected Ashley too much then to lead her on. I think this goes down in history for the first ever guy to turn down an overnight stay. This action made Ashley wonder if the other guys could do the same thing this late in the game.
Another surprise, was the return of Ryan. I could have saved him the trip, as we the viewer could already have told him that Ashley is just not that into him. However, Ryan didn’t see it that way. His take on it was that their date didn’t allow for the passion that Ashley said was missing. While they had a great fun date filled with Tai Chi & Temples, “it wasn’t an environment conducive to passion.” So he called up Chris & asked if he could return to see what could have been. Unfortunately he had to experience a second rejection from Ashley when she admitted to him that while she thinks he’s a great guy & perfect for her on paper, she felt stronger & passionate with the two guys that are left. A crying Ryan hoped he’d find love, and is a changed man & more open than ever now to find love at age 31.
The two guys who did accept the overnight dates & of course roses in the end, were Ben & JP. Ashley will be a lucky girl with either guy she ends up with. They both seem very much into her. Ben’s feelings took longer to develop, but now ‘he’s available’ whereas 2 months ago when they began this journey he wasn’t. He admitted he’s falling in love. So did JP. This week they both held back saying it to Ashley while on their overnight fantasy suites, which were the best I’ve seen yet on ‘The Bachelorette or ‘Bachelor.’ They each were in a secluded villa on the island of Fiji & stayed at the most gorgeous place called the Namale Resort. Chris Harrison blogged on ew.com that it’s owned by motivational speaker Tony Robbins.
Next week’s previews of the Season Finale show both finally saying the L word to Ashley. She has a tough decision to make. Her family, including her Mom, Stepdad, bro & sis join Ashley next week in Fiji help her, but it seems as though they make her decision harder. We see the sis telling Ashley that she’s too much for him..then we hear Ashley call her sister a biatch.
Ashley wrote on her People.com blog this week: “A lady I worked with once told me a story about how she met her husband while she was on vacation in Fiji. She told me how beautiful and romantic it was, and how nice the people were. Ever since then, Fiji was next on the list of places I wanted to visit. I was ecstatic to find out we were on our way there for The Bachelorette and that there was a good chance I would have a great Fiji love story of my own.’
Here’s what she wrote about her dates with Ben & JP which might have some insight as to who she picks. ‘I had so much fun with Ben on our date. I remember laughing so much. Our sense of humor is so similar and I would say we spent 80 percent of this date cracking jokes and having a great day out in the sun. What you didn’t see much of was our boat ride home. It was so romantic and he laid his head on my lap and we looked at the stars. It was a moment of clarity for both of us. My last date was with J.P. and I remember being so excited to see him walk up. I loved J.P.’s kisses and remember not wanting this date to end and being happy knowing that this was an overnight date and it wouldn’t have to end so soon! We took a seaplane to our own private beach and, of course, spent most of the day kissing. Beaches seem to be our thing.’
I think even Chris H. gave it away as to who Ashley ends up with when he wrote on his ew.com blog this week when describing Ashley & JP “The chemistry between these two is incredible. When they’re together it’s like nobody else exists in the world and that is a great quality in a couple.”
The most dramatic Season Finale of ‘The Bachelorette’ airs next Monday August 1 locally at 8 -10 pm PT on ABC where either Ben of JP will propose in Fiji. If the rumors are right it will be JP.
‘The Men Tell All’ is airing on a different night this season. For the first time ever it will air on a Sunday, July 31 at 8 pm on ABC. Previews show that there will be some sort of a Bentley/Ashley confrontation.
