Alchemy is the transmutation of a base substance into a substance of high value or preciousness, for example, the transmutation of lead into gold. Spiritual alchemy is the transmutation of “base” desires and tendencies into those that are spiritually pure. This process of alchemy is necessary because in order to reunite with God, we need to let go of all that is not of God within us. We already are in union with God in reality, but in ignorance we have taken on “base” or “lower” desires, beliefs and practices that are alien to our true nature, deny God within us and keep us from fully connecting with God in our hearts and allowing God to express through us.
“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Discipline therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry… also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth…” Colossians 3:1-5, 8
Spiritual alchemy is the process of being purified in the fires of God’s Love. These heavenly fires can also be called the flame of the Holy Spirit. The flame of the Holy Spirit is a Love so intense and of such a high frequency that it can instantly transmute energy vibrating at a very low frequency, such as anger, hatred or fear, transforming or “raising it up” into the pure and positive energies of God. The color of this flame of the Holy Spirit – were we able to see it with our physical eyes – is violet. This is why it has been called the “violet flame”.
The violet flame can be invoked through a prayer such as, “In the name of God (or Jesus Christ) I call forth the violet flame to transmute all energies of _______(hate, anger, selfishness, lust, greed, etc) in my consciousness, being and world. According to the Holy Will of God it is done. Amen.” This transmutation process can also be called “forgiveness”. When we confess to God our transgressions and past expressions of negative emotions and fear-generated behavior and ask for His intercession, and when we are willing to let go of these things, God can then transmute or “forgive” what is called “misqualifications” of energy, meaning energy that has been qualified or “colored” negatively.
“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” Isaiah 1:18
Just like an extremely soiled cloth will need many washings to become clean, our energy bodies have accumulated lifetimes of misqualified energy “soil”, and therefore it will take more than one prayer to become purified of this energetic burden. We also need time to gradually let go of patterns and beliefs that we have come to identify with, so we can’t expect – and couldn’t handle – an instantaneous transformation, but we can experience noticeable relief if we are faithful in our prayers and our intention.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
As we leave behind our old ways of the world, we become new – we are “reborn”, which means that we have a new identity of one who is in closer union, or “communion” with God in our hearts; we are more Christ-like. Christ is the shining, precious, golden consciousness of communion with God; the “miraculous” outcome of spiritual alchemy.
