Supermodel Heidi Klum has been running around this summer. Literally.
For the past 4 weeks, Klum has been jogging in downtown Manhattan with her celebrity friends, including her Project Runway co-star Michael Kors, reality star Kim Kardashian and supermodels Miranda Kerr and Brooklyn Decker.
The running is part of Heidi’s pledge to have her and interested participants log 100,000 miles in six weeks (including both running and incidental walking).
Klum’s summer fitness challenge began on June 20 and continues through July 20. So far the Project Runway host has logged 93.77 miles (as of July 13, 2011).
On July 12, Klum had a fun chat about running while jogging with Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover girl Brooklyn Decker. Heidi recounted on her blog:
“Picked up my friend, Brooklyn Decker, this morning in Brooklyn and then ran across the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan! Wow! What beautiful scenery! NYC and Brooklyn…Decker that is! Brooklyn was telling me she runs three to four times a week. When she travels, she runs in the cities she is visiting which is a great way to learn a new place!”
Heidi, a mother of four, maintains an enviable bikini body at 38 by running, strength-training, doing calisthenics and following a healthy diet free of processed food.
Klum, who has been modeling for almost 20 years, is enjoying her daily runs.
“Making the decision to run this summer was a great one,” Heidi blogged. “I feel healthier and more energetic than ever before, and I love that so many of my friends have joined me along the way. I’m going to be 80, walking with a stick down the runway,” she laughs.
