Spring and summer are by far my favorite fashion season with their flirty colors and light weight linens. Sadly summer is quickly coming to an end, however with it also comes the chance to buy hot staples for a fraction of the price. Back Bay fashion is in full swing showcasing their fall favorites, which means that all their summer favorites are on sale. This is your chance to buy that Theory white linen jacket or the Stewart Weitzman’s wedges that you have been eyeing for half the price. There are three staples that all New England fashion lovers should have in their warm weather wardrobe. These include the crisp white jacket, a chic and versatile pair of wedges, and the always reliable canvas tote. The fantastic part about buying these “never going out of style” items is that you can buy higher end and better quality pieces for the half the price. In Back Bay, the best place to start your search is at the bigger department stores such as Saks, Neiman Marcus, and Lord and Taylor. These stores are more spacious and thus their inventory is larger which means in the end their sale selection has a variety of styles and sizes.
There is nothing better than a white jacket to add the perfect amount of sophistication to almost any summer outfit. I found Saks in the Prudential Center to have the best selection. My two favorites were Nannette Lepore’s Hit To Trot jacket and Tory Burch Gragham Stretch Pique jacket.” They both look hot on and are almost forty percent off. I do want to note that while not on sale Elizabeth and James Triple Pocket jacket is so flattering it’s worth at least a quick glance.
Wedges are the perfect warm weather heel, it gives you height and comfort and goes with almost everything. This year Lord and Taylor have the best end of summer deals. There are so many great shoes on sale it was almost impossible to choose a favorite. Mark and James Maggie shoe defiantly caught my eye with their four and half inch heels and rich chocolate color.
I was also drawn to Elie Tahari’s Alicia covered wedge. It has simple lines and a unique edge to them. They can be found for under one hundred and thirty dollars at the Boylston Street location.
Canvas totes are a summer essential that are a fundamental staple in every girls wardrobe. The array of styles and price points with these bags is extreme. However, with the end of summer you have a small window to grab a high end bags at great prices. I am partial to Tory Burch’s Gwendolyn Straw Bucket tote. It is great because it can be used as both a purse and beach and pool bag. Neiman Marcus in the Copley mall carries it for three hundred and fifty one dollars compared to the original price of five hundred and twenty five dollars.
I am also loyal to Anya Hindmarch canvas totes with their unique style and durability. These totes have fun pencil designs and savvy sayings such as “dry cleaning” or “market bag” on the front. They are not on sale but can be found at Saks for a reasonable one hundred and thirty five dollars.
There is no better place than Back Bay to escape for an afternoon of lunch, wine, and casually searching for what are sure to be next spring and summer dependable favorites.
