As you step into the front door of Stir Cooking School, colors pop all around. The aubergine cabinets and canary yellow bar top bring energy to the room. Go ahead and introduce yourself to the other students while waiting for class begin. The space is homey. Each class holds 10-12 people, which will be split into two groups, one at each of the stove tops.
I attended the Summer Fun: Crab Boil! class. The menu consisted of a traditional crab boil with crab legs, shrimp, potatoes, onions, and all the spices and fixin’s. We prepared a watermelon and arugula salad topped with ricotta salata, dressed with a champagne vinaigrette. Our meal wouldn’t be complete without homemade bread! Freshly baked cheddar and scallion biscuits were served fresh from the oven. The most indulging course of the evening came last – cherry cobblers with vanilla ice cream.
We prepped, cooked, mixed, baked, and stirred all ingredients, while sipping on white wine served from the bar. Katy, Stir’s Chef and owner, and her team prepare you with premeasured ingredients and step-by-step instructions. From there each student is assigned duties to make the meal complete.
Once all the steps are complete, you have a delicious meal, ready to enjoy with your dinner friends! While eating, all students dish on how much fun they’ve had and what class they’ll be taking next. Grab your friends and sign up for a class. You’ll be glad you did! Check all the upcoming classes online here.
