According to a survey conducted by Rent.com, Top 10 Cities for Single Women, Phoenix is listed as the number one city in the nation for single women. The reasons stated were the weather (plenty of sunshine and no snow to battle), low cost of living (thanks to the declining housing market), as well as the fact that 30% of the town’s men are single.
In adition to those very relevant reasons for a single woman to live in this great city, let’s look at some additional reasons that make this a great city for single women. Take for example all of the activities and opportunities available, for both dating and family time, and the variety of places to shop and eat on various budgets. The Phoenix area offers free days at the museums, movies in the park, dance and art classes through the Parks and Recreation departments, plenty of outdoor activities and parks (including dog parks), sporting events, movies ranging from IMax to dollar theatres, and the list goes on and on. There are also many singles groups, meetup groups, activity groups, and book clubs; there are many ways to meet new people and develop an interest or hobby, as well as build a support system.
What was interesting about this study though, was that the counterpart to the study, Top 10 Cities for Single Men, didn’t have Phoenix on the list at all. How can this be a great city for single women, but not a great city for single men?
Chime in ladies and tell me what you think. Is this a great city to be a single woman?
