The Sioux Falls Storm (14-1) look to continue their quest for a 5th Indoor Football League championship on Saturday July 9th at the Sioux Falls Arena. The Storm will entertain the Green Bay Blizzard (13-3) for the second time this season. The Storm defeated the Blizzard in Sioux Falls on May 15th 57-38. In the first meeting, Storm quarterback Chris Dixon torched the Green Bay defense for 218 passing yards and 4 touchdowns through the air. He also ran for 10 yards and 1 touchdown.
James Terry led the way for the Storm with 132 receiving yards and 11 rushing yards. Add that to 88 return yards and Terry punished the Blizzard with 231 all-purpose yards. The Storm’s defense was able to hold the Blizzard offense at bay for most of the game. Rachman Crable had 2 sacks on Green Bay quarterback Willie Copeland to go along with 6 total tackles and 3 tackles for loss.
Penalties are something which have caused the Storm problems throughout the season due to their inopportune times of occurring or number of penalties accrued in a row for the offense. But despite this fact, the Storm were the 9th least penalized team in the IFL, committing only 98 penalties throughout the regular season. The timing of those penalties have put the Storm into 2nd and 3rd and long situations which they have been able to overcome sometime and sometimes they have been stopped by the opposing defenses.
Kickoff for the United Conference Championship is set for 7:05 PM at the Sioux Falls Arena. The game can be heard on KOOL 107.9 FM and will also be broadcast live on Midco Sports Net. The first 1000 fans through the doors will receive a free noisemaker to use at the game.
