In an exclusive saloon at Perricone’s (one of Brickell’s top restaurants), was held the Stella & Dot fashion show-fall 2011 collection, where a group of beautiful and successful women of all ages and ravishing styles, came together to support and celebrate the dazzling collection. Stella & Dot offers a luxurious, irresistible, and affordable jewelry collection. Jennifer Levy, hostess of this marvelous event and Director of Stella & Dot (based in Florida), gave us the insight on what is known to be “the modern home-based career”.
BSE: Jen, tell us a little about Stella & Dot.
Jen Levy: Stella & Dot is a direct sales company. It’s a modern day version of Mary Kay or Avon. We sell fabulous luxcouture jewelry. It’s not custom jewelry, it’s not fine jewelry, is in between.
BSE: How does it work?
Jen Levy: We are stylist. We sell the jewelry and earn a commission on the jewelry we sell. It is offered exclusively through in-home VIP function. It’s not found in stores, so you have a personal stylist come to your home, set up the jewelry display and the hostess is rewarded for introducing the jewelry to her friends. She gets 25% back from the jewelry sales and free jewelry of her choice, plus for the half priced items. You can earn commission on your jewelry sales as a stylist and do very well that way, or you can choose to build a team as I’ve done and earn commission on what the other stylist do as well. So, you can either earn commission on that one jewelry you sell or earn multiple commissions.
BSE: Who features Stella & Dot?
Jen Levy: They don’t pay for much advertising. The editors adored this line. Stella & Dot is featured almost every month. They’ve come out in InStyle magazine, Lucky magazine, and Vogue magazine. Stella & Dot will be featured next month in InStyle. The handbags will be featured in InStyle in the September issue. Most of the bags as well as the jewelry are designed in the same couture houses as Jimmy Choo, Prada, and Manolo Blahnik (all the high-end designers). It’s all the same quality, but for less price.
BSE: What was the inspiration behind this beautiful collection?
Jen Levy: This collection is all about being bold and walking through and people noticing. I call a lot of the necklaces the “traffic stoppers”, because you literally walk in and everyone is like “what is that!” That’s really what the collection is all about, the woman that you’re meant to be.
BSE: Who or what influenced you into the world of fashion?
Jen Levy: When I went to college years ago I started off in fashion design. That’s where I thought I was going to go into. There was a part of me that wanted to get involved in fashion, but I didn’t because I felt and knew I wanted a family. It was important to meet my soul-mate and that whole criteria. I thought it might have been too much of a fast-paced life, so I pursued psychology and got my education. I started off with that, got involved in real estate, and then this came along. I just said “oh my god, my life has come full circle. I have my husband, I have my kids, I have a career, and the fashion is back!”
BSE: Give us your input on Brickell style and fashion.
Jen Levy: First of all, I think the Brickell area in general is so hot right now. In fact, my husband and I are both in real estate and we were just talking about opening an office here, because everybody wants to live in Brickell. So, as far as high expectations and being the hub, Brickell has got everything going.
Having been a part of the exclusive Stella & Dot fashion show event, I am certain that this fabulous, luxurious, and irresistible line will remain top notch in the fashion industry for years to come. For a closer look at Stella & Dot, visit: www.stelladot.com/jenlevy
