From One Tree Hill stars to Lil Twist (Lil Wayne’s younger brother), we captured this special celebration of the MTV Video Music Awards (Aug 28, 2011) at the Legacy Lounge Gifting Suite in Los Angeles yesterday. When taking a celebrity poll, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift were the clear favorites for tonight’s MTV VMAs. In LA Live’s Conga Room, we interviewed celebrities for this story and in this HD VIDEO: Irene Celebrity Shout Out – Celebrating 2011 MTV Video Music Awards about their latest projects and messages to east coast fans dealing with Irene.
Barbara Alyn Woods (Desperate Housewives) shared her breaking news in the first interview since her invite to return to One Tree Hill (playing Deb Scott.) Barbara shared this exclusive update, “I was on the show for the first six years,….and I took some time off, and I’ve been hanging out with my kids, they’re full time actresses,…and just a couple days ago, found out that I was going to go back.”
And Barbara’s daughters are adorable, and were both there. Emily Alyn Lind (ABC’s TV Show, Revenge) shared how much fun it was to work with Clint Eastwood on the movie J Edgar (November 2011.) When I asked Emily what it was like to act with Leonardo DiCaprio on this film, she said with a big sigh, “Oh, he’s just so great.” Check out her priceless expressions the HD Video in this story. Natalie Alyn Lind (Wizards of Waverly Place, iCarly) talked about her One Tree Hill friends dealing with the hurricane in North Carolina, “Hurricane Irene is so big,,,and I’m texting all my friends in North Carolina. And they’re like, nothing really happened. It was just rainy and the power went out, but they’re all excited because they have school out for a week now for everybody cleaning up the stuff….Everyone in North Carolina is ok. So I’m happy about that.”
We also had a lively interview with Anthony Montgomery @MrAMontgomery and Travis Winfrey from VH1’s hot Single Ladies show, who gave mixed advice for women. Travis’ take, “Stay single. We’re stupid and never learn so just give up.” Anthony did not agree, and shared, “I’m married so I’m not one of the stupid ones. Take your time…..that guy is working on himself so you keep working on yourself, and he’ll be there when he’s supposed to be…don’t look…I found my wife, but I wasn’t looking for my wife. I was looking for a date, that’s what we do as guys. I was looking at her legs.” And then there was debate about how much women should pay attention to a guy. Travis says ignore the guy, while Anthony says, “Talk to me.”
Ashley Barker, who was in Bring it On 4 that’s on DVD, also spoke about her latest projects. She was a competitive cheerleader for 8 years, and got to work with a lot of her friends on Bring it On. Ashley added, “I also just filmed the X Project with Todd Phillips, which he’s the director of The Hangover so that was pretty cool working with him.”
It was also fun to check out the hot new brands that gave stars gifts in the Legacy Lounge Gifting Suite. We loved how Ooh la la Boutiques (a woman’s boutique located on Long Island) gives back to the community (Habitat for Humanity and others). They’re stuck in LA until Tuesday because of Irene, and I gave them directions to the beach. We also checked out the new Schoodies that’s a cool combination of a hoodie and scarf. When asked if they’re planning to send Schoodies to the east coast, Director Ryan Blackstock shared, “We’re actually going to do a banner campaign in the next week or so donating a portion of our revenue towards the east coast so stay tuned for that as well.” In our Celebrating MTV Video Music Awards video, you’ll also find Lucy Jakelian (Heiresses of Mercy, who makes the beautiful feather jewelry that is worn by many stars in the video) and Robert Sheakalee (Apothecary Clothing) with a west coast invite to the east coast.
As we wrapped up six hours of interviews, we met @We_Are_Heroes (first and only female champions of Americas Best Dance Crew) and Lil Twist (photo in slideshow of this 16-year-old rapper from Dallas, Texas, and Lil Wayne’s younger brother.) They were sooooo grateful for being interviewed in 3D by my friend Joyce Chow (Watch for these interviews on MBN’s MonteBubbles.net.) We also found Rapper Tre Luv, who shared a clever ad lib rap for everyone dealing with Hurricane Irene, “Well look here. This is clear. Make sure, you make sure, you’re listening with your ear. Hurricane Irene is mean so stay alert. Make sure you’re not caught up in the dirt. Stay alive because you gotta strive, you gotta survive….No slack so make sure you attack . Keep your family inside so they can stay intact. Keep your children away. Don’t let this hurricane blow you away.”
Many thanks to all the stars for these lively interviews, and to the cool brands who gave use gifts at this celebration of the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. Don’t forget to get your Schoodie, and watch the awards show tonight at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles featuring Adele, Tony Bennett (in a tribute to Amy Winehouse), Beyoncé, Chris Brown, Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, Bruno Mars, Pitbull (featuring Ne-Yo and Nayer), Young the Giant and a Tribute to Britney Spears.
