Mayweather vs Paul weigh-in results: Jack-Colina, Hurd-Arias set for Sunday

The real and fully sanctioned fights for Showtime’s Sunday night Mayweather-Logan Paul pay-per-view had their weigh-in on early Saturday afternoon, and things are good to go for the two sanctioned bouts on the show.

In what will serve as the co-feature on the pay-per-view, Badou Jack weighed in at 177 lbs with late replacement opponent Dervin Colina at 176½. The fight had a contract weight of 177 due to Colina coming in on short notice.

Colina (15-0, 13 KO) is a 33-year-old Venezuelan in at the last minute to replace Jean Pascal, who failed tests for four separate performance-enhancing drugs. Colina has nothing of note on his record and has never fought outside of his home country, but it’s a huge shot for him, obviously.

Jack (23-3-3, 13 KO) will be looking to simply take care of business and move on. At 37, he wants to get back into the title mix at 175 right away, and an upset loss here would be a huge shot against that. Expect him focused and ready to do the job at hand.

Frank Santore Jr will be the referee for Jack-Colina, with Fernando Barbosa, Michael Tate, and Roark Young as the judges, all from Florida.

Former 154 lb titleholder Jarrett Hurd (24-1, 16 KO) will also be back in action, facing Luis Arias (18-2-1, 9 KO) in a 10-round middleweight bout.

Hurd weighed in at 158, with Arias at 158½, both inside the 160 lb limit. Hurd plans on going back to 154 for a bigger fight next — assuming he wins this one, of course — and still has his eyes on Jermell Charlo, who faces Brian Castano in an undisputed title bout in July on Showtime.

Arias, like Colina but better-known, has nothing to lose here, a lot to gain if he can pull the upset. He’s always had talent, but hasn’t quite fully put it together. He’s confident he will tomorrow night.

Christopher Young will be the third man in the ring for Hurd-Arias, with Florida judges John Rupert, Mark Streisand, and Toby Tamarkin scoring the bout.

If anyone is worried about having lesser-known judges scoring these fights, let me remind you how bad the ones whose names you know are all the time, so I say don’t fret on it.
