Notes: Chris Colbert was solid in a good win over Tugstsogt Nyambayar on Saturday, and moves up a spot, trading places with Tevin Farmer, who looked pretty bad last time out, and last time out was in Jan. 2020. He should return sometime soon-ish, but he’s also a free agent and might be moving up to 135.

Colbert is coming as a contender, though. PBC like him, Showtime are willing to headline with him (he’s had two straight main events on the network), and if/when Gervonta Davis vacates the WBA belt, Colbert and Xavier Martinez — another good PBC propsect — are in line to fight for the vacant belt, maybe. Kinda. I mean, you’d think the WBA would bump up “world” (“regular”) champion Roger Gutierrez, but they’ve proven before in this division that they can be talked into playing favorites, and Gutierrez has no name value.

Notes: Assuming Nyambayar goes back down to 126 after that loss to Colbert, where size definitely played a role. The Mongolian fighter is fun to watch usually, but he’s proven fairly limited in recent fights. Usually has his moments, sometimes looks really good, but has lulls and can be out-boxed by quicker, more consistent guys like Colbert and Gary Russell. Those are two good fighters with obvious on-paper advantages and all, but Nyambayar has flaws. I think he’s still a top 10 featherweight for the moment, in part because the division is in need of some new life in bigger fights.
