A motorcyclist sped to his death Tuesday morning after leaving the roadway and striking a guardrail in Atlanta.
The crash happened at 2:17 a.m. on Cumberland Parkway between South Atlanta Road and South Cobb Drive, Cobb County police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said.
Investigators said Mr. Jesus Rodriguez, 24, of Marietta was riding anorange 1996 Suzuki GSXR-750 motorcycle westbound on Cumberland Parkway when the crash happened.
Mr. Rodriguez was riding at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a left hand curvature in the roadway, Sgt. Pierce said.
“The motorcycle left the roadway and the rider was ejected just after both struck a nearby guardrail, Sgt. Pierce said.
Mr. Rodriguez died at the scene.
It’s unclear how fast Mr. Rodriguez was riding and police did not release any details on whether or not he was wearing a helmet.
