Saturday, August 6, is the date for the 2011 Indiana Special Olympics Plane Pull—the tenth anniversary of this event. This year, the plane will be a Boeing 757, courtesy of FedEx. The weight is expected to be 164,000 pounds; the scoring is based on the time needed to move the airplane 12 feet. The pulling begins at 9:00 a.m., and more than 1200 people are registered in teams of up to 22. There will also be a Runway Run, with 1 and 3 mile courses, as well as a 3×3-mile relay, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The event is free, and family fun events, including aircraft displays, music, and food are planned.
The event is at the old Indianapolis airport terminal. Because of construction, the suggested route is to exit I-465 at Washington Street, and go west to the first light at High School Road, and turn left.
