According to a press release issued on August 29, 2011 by the Indian River School District, congratulations is in order to the Sebastian River High School students and faculty for achieving the feat of surpassing the World averages with an 83% pass rate on the May 2011 International Baccalaureate tests. The breakdown results by subject are:

The School District of Indian River County is one of only 21 in North America, and 16 in the U.S. to offer all three levels of the International Baccalaureate Program: Primary Years Program (at Liberty Magnet), Middle Years Program (at Sebastian River Middle) and the Diploma Program, the most rigorous academic program available at Sebastian River High School.
Indian River County School Superintendent, Dr. Frances J. Adams, had this to say:

It is an affirmation that we are moving in the right direction with curriculum and instruction and that students are taking their education seriously. Sebastian River High School’s IB Program is a very good example of the quality programs offered to our students.”

Sebastian River High School, costing over $27 million to build, and occupying over 173,043 square feet opened its doors in August 1994 and because of the school’s cost, size and grandeur, Sebastian River High School was known as the ‘Taj Mahal’ of schools in Indian River County. Now the school is known on a grander academic scale with the students’ awesome achievement of surpassing the International Baccalaureate’s World averages.
