Sarah Michelle Gellar’s new TV show Ringer has fans of the former Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress and Whedonverse alumna waiting in eager anticipation. The resounding cheer is: Buffy is back.
As SMG’s triumphant return to the small screen, Ringer will premiere on September 13th on The CW network.
Recently, SMG sat down with Entertainment Weekly to talk about her work on the new show. Click the video in the left sidebar to watch EW’s interview with SMG. In Ringer, Gellar plays estranged twin sisters Bridget and Siobhan Cafferty. After Siobhan’s mysterious demise, Bridget –fleeing from the mobsters whose dirty dealings she witnessed– steps into Siobhan’s shows, taking over her twin’s life to hide from her enemies. But things go horribly wrong for Bridget when she learns that Siobhan has some secrets and enemies of her own… and she might not actually be all that dead.
In the interview with EW, Gellar describes the show as film noir for television. There are mob bosses, stolen identities, crimes witnessed, dark pasts, shady characters, and plenty of double crossing. Gellar also revealed that there will be no red herrings, no answer-less questions in this twisted plot of a drama (much to the relief of Lost fans everywhere). According to SMG, the writers have had everything planned out from the story’s very inception.
