San Francisco Marathon 2011, 25,000 runners, Web site crashes (photos, videos)
The San Francisco Marathon 2011 got underway on Sunday, July 31, under merciful, cool foggy skies.
SFGate.com noted that with 25,000 runners, the interest in the race has mushroomed, so much so, that the marathon’s Web site crashed. But if you can’t get it it now, have patience, it comes and goes. Click here for an joltleft.com list of the top overall winners.
The marathon also tied up traffic early this morning. The course took runners over the Golden Gate Bridge, through Golden Gate Park and along the Embarcadero.
The SF Marathon had room for runners from every fitness level. See the video on the left for the start of the kids’ mile-long run along the Embarcadero. More photos in the slideshow on the left.
