There are many avenues to healthy living and the integration of various healing techniques can assist the body in self-correction!
Cynthia Curtis Harington, the forward-thinking founder and executive director of the nationally acclaimed Rose Quest Nutrition Centre, has dedicated her more than 29-year career to educating and guiding people to feel their best through healthy eating with a strong emphasis on organically-grown food.
Ms. Harington is a Professional Licensed Nutritionist with the State of Illinois, a graduate of the Glen Oaks College of Nursing, a National Board Certified Massage Therapist, and a recognized nutritionist who writes for broadcast media and publications. Certified with the Nutritionist Institute of America, she has also completed advanced nutritional studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
Messages from the Body: Cynthia is committed to interpreting the messages of your body, and then offering a multi-faceted system of nutrition which defines her Centre’s emphasis, in order to assist the body in nutritionally balancing itself.
So how do we recover the natural flow of life energy? The inner-relational levels of healing include physical, emotional, psychological, energetic, and spiritual: The external curative healing methods will relieve congestion at the physical level so that life energy is induced to return and resume its work of maintenance and repair. The practices used to stimulate the life energy back into the neglected diseased body to permit the indirect free flow of energy include nutritional care, exercises, and therapeutic massage.
Cynthia recommends reading Lewis Thomas’ book, “The Lives of a Cell,” as a helpful resource. A balanced energetic body is dependent upon physical body health; the harmonized Chakra system occurs when the 5 Elements of Qi-energy (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) flow through the circuit created by these seven energy centers (Chakras), the energy mechanism of the human body becomes complete ensuring that the body and mind will be healthy.
The practices used can include breath work, yoga, tai chi, and Qi-going. Energetic health, in turn, leads the restoration of vibrating life energy to its direct free flow, as accomplished by internal healing processes of Spirit. The practices used can include affirmations, will, faith, reason, and meditation – all beneficial practices leading to a state often referred to as Spiritual Wholeness. Proper eating can literally enhance the quality of your life across all of its levels!
Educational Methods of Guidance: Cynthia’s work is focused on an educational method of guiding people to feel their best, and the approach emphasizes client/nutritionist cooperation, and fosters individual responsibility for nutritional health. Many people are amazed by their results, as appearance is transformed into what is informally known among clients as, “The Rose Quest Glow of Health.”
Personal experience with this methodology is best described as “Optimal health through application of the 70-20-10 Rule:”
The client is responsible for 70 percent of the nutritional care program, as Cynthia provides her 20 percent in the form of clearly defined guidelines, and then there is the 10 percent deciding the outcome as divine intervention.
It is All about Nutritional Balance: Cynthia’s recommendation for achieving, and then maintaining a healthy condition are to: “Eat less fat, cholesterol, sodium, sugar; eat more organic fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole grains; and incorporate regular exercise.” In fact, organic food is a vital part of the Rose Quest wellness program, but with many items difficult to find, as a convenience to her clients, there is an organic store that carries hundreds of products from fresh produce to high-quality organic juices and countless varieties of grains, seeds, and nuts.
Stress reduction is also important, as research related to the mind-body connection indicates an inextricable chemical link between our emotions to include the good and bad stress in our lives, along with the regulatory systems of the endocrine and immune systems through the central nervous system. Nutritional care is a vital protective measure against the ravages chronic stress can cause the body.
The Road to Health: Rose Quest Nutrition Centre offers personalized plans and support because nutritional needs vary based on a myriad of factors including age, gender, medical history, weight, body chemistry, and what you eat. Cynthia shares:
“In someone’s quest for wellness, there is no “one-size-fits-all” plan. Each person is viewed as an individual with needs and goals as unique as they are, and their personalized plan reflects these factors.”
There are two Rose Quest offices, one in Mishawaka, Indiana and the other in downtown Chicago. If neither office location is convenient to come in person, a phone consultation program, on a weekly basis, is suggested as an alternative. Many clients around the country find this to be an excellent arrangement.
A “no end/no beginning journey” with Rose Quest Nutrition Centre is best described by something Cynthia shared with me more than 28 years ago about the metaphorical representation of the Rose to her healing centre’s name:
“The rose is ancient and mystical in its powers. Each plant is unique in that it grows to flower, blooms/bud-to-blossom, and dries, in its own time. The gardeners who tend roses say these plants need more care…more frequent waterings are required. A rose is like your child, and you want it to be at its best always. But, at some point, when it is all grown up, you have to let it walk alone.” (~ excerpt from “The Gift of a Rose”)
