River Cafe in Santa Cruz has recently expanded its offering of local food and wine to include Happy Hour and dinner on the deck.
So, if you are looking for a place to unwind and get nourished as the week winds down, grab a sweater or a jacket and head on over to the River Cafe.
Known for it’s fantastic house-made jams, hearty breakfasts, brunches, and lunches, you can now find some of the freshest food for dinner as well – on Thursday and Fridays only.
River Cafe has expanded to include the former flower shop across the deck. Happy Hour starts around 5:30 pm and lasts until 7 pm with two dollar pints and one dollar off on glasses of wine.
Featuring local wines and flavorful brews, this is no ordinary happy hour.
Expect to be tantalized by the new dinner menu that features fresh Pizzettas created on the grill – with delectable farm fresh ingredients like Padrone peppers, Heirloom tomatoes, Bellwether ricotta cheese, and, of course, mozzarella.
Dinner fare also includes creative salads, such as the Boquerones salad with mild anchovy-like fish and avocado served on baby greens with pickled onions.
Focusing on small dishes rather than huge meals, the outdoor dining gives a festive continental and social atmosphere.
Typical dinner offerings include bowls of hearty soups, small plates like olives and toast as well as cheese plates – and seasonal offerings like zucchini fritters and grilled corn on the cob – all for reasonable prices.
For a more filling meal, you can chose from their Old Creek Ranch Grass-fed burger with grilled onions and Point Reyes cheese or their fresh fish tacos with local H&H fish, cilantro and the old family recipe for Consuelo’s salsa.
