RIFT’s 1.4 update is expected in just a few weeks. The update, although smaller compared to past RIFT patches, is substantial. Major additions to PvP are planned, a new 10-player raid will be included, and the LFG tool will jump across shards.
RIFT PvPers can enjoy two more Prestige levels with new gear, but will also be treated to two new ways to PvP. First off, the Whitefall Steppes warfront will change rulesets during the “Weekend Warfront” mini-event which lasts Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Instead of being a classic capture the flag map, the map will use Escalation rules. A sourcestone will be placed in the middle of the map and players must race to pick it up. Running it back to your team’s cannon is only part of the challenge. More sourcestones will pop up on the map and a team needs three returned to their cannon to win. PvPers will also get to slay their opponents in PvP rifts with the update. These rifts give the faction that opened them a chance to defend their NPCs while they harvest energy from the rift. The opposing faction, of course, is out to stop them.
Update 1.4 is introducing a new 10-player raid called Drowned Halls and has players queuing across shards to group up for dungeons. Not to mention, a new quest line will be added that ends up offering the player a new mount. Read more about the update here.
