I revisited the Ritz-Carlton for a little food, Pageant of the Masters and pampering!
I met with Deanne French the Director of Public Relations and another foodie who has a great culinary blog, Anita Lau. for lunch at Raya. For appetizers, we dined on fabulous Ceviche and a favorite of mine, Raya’s hot and tasty truffle, Parmesan French fries. For lunch Anita had succulent Miso Black Cod and Deanne and I both dined on Scallops with Pork belly. The Scallops were cooked perfectly and the combination of crisp Pork belly was a tantalizing duo. For dessert we shared, Warm Toffee Cake with Vermont maple syrup ice cream and whipped vanilla sauce and warm homemade cinnamon spice Churros.I tasted the Pastry Chefs talents again the next morning with a must have before they are all gone sticky bun.
Raya was named Restaurant of the Year by Riviera Orange County magazine.
That evening The Ritz hosted a group of individuals to a special pre-opening night at The Pageant of the Masters. We met at The Ritz Carlton for delicious dishes, such as Prime Rib and a spoonful of flavorful mushrooms along with other appetizers. When entering the room, tasty Sangria greeted you. Your choices of wine or mixed drinks were also available. There are a few packages available at the hotel for The Pageant of the Masters. The Ritz-Carlton seats are terrific and this year’s show is magical. If you have not been, this is the perfect way to see it.
My room was Ocean-side, with the sounds putting me into quality slumber. The next day I had the great pleasure of experiencing an Ashiatsu massage. The word Ashiatsu combines the Japanese, “Ashi,” meaning foot and, “Atsu,” meaning pressure. Therapeutic foot massage has been a traditional healing treatment given around the world for centuries in India, China, Japan, Tonga, Fiji, Hawaii and now the United States. The form of Ashiatsu performed at the Ritz Carlton comes from the southern Indian Ayurvedic/Yogi tradition and has been around for two thousand years. Heather Christian was my massage therapist. She was amazing!
The next evening was spent with mans best friend, grilling burgers and enjoying cocktails. The picturesque landscape on the Dana Lawn was filled with three hundred dogs and their owners. Yappy Hour helps raise money for the Pet Project Foundation, whose mission is “to enhance the quality of life of all companion animals in a pro-human manner through compassion, responsibility, education and service”.
The dogs like their owners came in all shapes and sizes. Some wore glitz to the Ritz, while others were groomed to perfection, others had a more laid back appeal. It was a happy Yappy hour. Owners had a great time and so did the dogs, which were served their choice of bacon, cheese, liver, chicken or beef flavored waters to keep them cool in first-rate style.
At the resort, a Posh Pooch enjoys:
A Hand-Painted Bowl
Plush Doggie Bed
Vista View Dog Walking Trail Map
Dog Waste Bags
Club Yappy card, a loyalty card entitling guests (human guests) to 15 percent savings in the spa, retail shop, Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment program and all food and beverage outlets.
